BRI & SI | INTERVIEW + TRACK REVIEW

With their new EP A Hundred Voices, Bri & Si continue to push the boundaries of electronic music, blending elements of rock, house, techno, and beyond into a sound that is both immersive and dancefloor-ready. Known for their dynamic live performances and genre-blurring approach, the duo has crafted a collection of tracks that explore different voices and perspectives—both musically and thematically. Entirely self-produced in their own studio, the EP showcases their meticulous attention to detail and artistic freedom. In this interview, Bri & Si share insights into their creative process, the evolution of their sound, and what’s next on their ever-expanding musical journey.

TRACK REVIEW

Bri & Si’s A Hundred Voices is a high-energy, pulse-racing ride from start to finish. From the moment it kicks in, the track radiates an electrifying euphoria—this is the kind of song that thrives in a dimly lit club at 3AM, where the air is thick, the crowd is lost in the moment, and the beat feels endless.

The abrupt chord change midway through is a standout moment, catching you off guard and pulling the track in an unexpected yet deeply satisfying direction. There’s something hypnotic in the vocal delivery, especially towards the end of the chorus—an intangible, addictive quality that lingers long after the song fades.

As the track builds, the layers of synths and sampling elevate the energy even further. The scattered bursts of a female vocal sample weave seamlessly into the mix, adding texture and movement before the synths take over, surging towards an explosive finale. A Hundred Voices is the perfect blend of dancefloor-ready production and intricate sonic storytelling—Bri & Si have delivered a track that’s both exhilarating and immersive.

Your new EP, A Hundred Voices, explores different voices and perspectives. What inspired this theme, and how did it shape the songwriting process?

I think it’s part of who we are, being naturally inquisitive and having an interest in a broad range of music and perspectives. That informs the music as we constantly explore new ideas and sounds.

The EP was entirely recorded and produced in your own studio. How did having full creative control impact the final sound?

Being able to record and produce ourselves has a big impact on the final sound. It allows us to spend a lot of time refining the songs and their sounds and not be impacted by time schedules or financial concerns.

Tracks like A Hundred Voices and The Block have such a strong presence. If you had to describe their energy in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, Engrossing, Movement.

You've played over 115 shows, including internationally. How has performing live influenced the way you write and produce music?

The way we develop our songs is that we produce an initial version of the song and then take it to the stage. Over time the song might change in terms of arrangement and the addition or subtraction of instruments or sounds. We are very aware of the venues that we perform in and audiences we play to, and tailor each of our live sets to suit. As such we continue to write songs in various genres to ensure that we can deliver a great show wherever we perform.

Your music blends elements of electronic rock, house, techno, and more. Do you approach genre-blending intentionally, or does it happen naturally in the studio?

It happens naturally and is part of our “sound”. The songs might start out being influenced by a particular genre, but even in the early stages, there are usually two or three genres present. Once we have performed a song for a period of time it might evolve even more and incorporate more genres.

Visually and musically, you've been compared to acts like Kraftwerk and The Chemical Brothers. How do you balance those influences while keeping your sound uniquely 'Bri & Si'?

Like most bands we are a product of our influences, while trying to add something to them. For example, if we set out to write a Kraftwerk inspired song, by the time demo is completed, it has already gone through the Bri & Si filter. It would be unusual for us to create a straight homage to anyone or any particular style.

The EP features remixes of A Hundred Voices by HOSTILE ARCHITECT and Action Ant. What drew you to collaborate with these artists, and how do you feel their remixes transform the original track?

We have known both HOSTILE ARCHITECT and Ant personally for a while now and are admirers of their work. They were the first two people we asked for remixes for this project and they both said yes. We were sure that they would bring their own unique spin on the remixes, reflecting their own arts practices, which they did.

You've wrapped up your South East Queensland shows promoting the EP—what's next for Bri & Si? More touring, new music, or something else?

More shows as always. We usually do a run of shows every 3 or 4 months along with one-off performances. We also have a song coming out on an upcoming compilation and have already begun working on our next EP, which is due out before the end of the year.

Your sound is both dancefloor-ready and deeply immersive. What's the ideal setting for someone to listen to A Hundred Voices for the first time?

For live performances, in a dark setting, as we like to employ fog machines, lighting, and lasers, to complement our sound. At home, anytime of the day. People have also told us that they like to listen to us while driving.

If you could send a message to a first-time listener discovering Bri & Si through this EP, what would you want them to take away from it?

Embrace open-mindedness, creativity, and diversity, and there are plenty of interesting things to be found on the edges.
